Kalamazoo, MI and South Bend, IN (PRWEB) April 30, 2013
Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. announced today that all route service vehicles in its fleet are now equipped with real time telematics and GPS tracking. The new system provides the company with real time vehicle location, direction of travel, speed, geo-fencing incursion reporting, state line crossing reporting, and other vehicle performance data.
Lake Michigan Mailers, is a leading provider of document management, mail assembly, mail processing, presorting, data management, digital marketing and distribution services to companies, schools, colleges and universities, health care providers, governmental entities and organizations throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The company provides direct transportation services to customers in a 12,600 mile square mile area every day with its own regional fleet of vehicles. Annually the company’s service fleet travels more than 477,000 road miles without leaving the Eastern Time Zone.
“We have been looking for a robust, real time tracking system for our fleet for the better part of a decade to help us monitor our service performance, our vehicle performance, and achieve greater efficiencies in servicing our customers,” said David C. Rhoa, president of Lake Michigan Mailers, Inc. “We evaluated a number of systems. Many were too cumbersome or relied on the use of old technology. Other systems could not provide us with the critical data we needed without extensive invention from our driver. The Sprint device is easy to install, provides us with robust data, and does not require any time or attention of our driver. It’s exactly what we needed,” said Rhoa.
The enhanced tracking system will provide both real time and historic travel data to allow the company to maximize route efficiencies. “The ability of the Sprint system to allow us to look at historic route activity is a natural extension of our sustainability program. The cheapest fuel is the fuel you never have to buy, and this system provides us with the data we need to maintain route efficiency and reduce our fuel consumption,” said Rhoa.
