“This tragedy in Boston hits close to home and we wanted to help give back. We were honored to donate 100% of the sales from the first 1,500 Boston Strong t-shirts sold as we anticipated their fundraising idea would be extremely well received.”
Milwaukee, Wisconsin (PRWEB) April 19, 2013
With the tragic events that unfolded at the Boston Marathon on the afternoon of April 15th our country reacted in a show of unity to help those in need.
Within hours of the terrible acts of violence, two Emerson College students - Nick Reynolds and Chris Dobens sought out a partner to raise donations to help those affected by this tragedy.
Nick and Chris contacted Ink to the People of Milwaukee, WI, which specializes in creating custom designed t-shirts and selling these shirts online and through social media. Nick and Chris quickly utilized Ink to the People’s online design platform to create a Royal Blue t-shirt with the phrase ‘Boston Strong’ in bright yellow lettering—very similar to the signature colors of the Boston Marathon.
The goal was simple for Nick and Chris: do something impactful to help those affected by the tragic events of April 15th in Boston. The Emerson College students were hoping to sell two hundred shirts and be able to make a nice donation to The One Fund Boston.
“When Nick and Chris approached us with their idea, their hope was to make a small mark and help those in need with their t-shirt fundraiser,” said Jay Berman, principal of Ink to the People. “This tragedy in Boston hits close to home and we wanted to help give back. We were honored to donate 100% of the sales from the first 1,500 Boston Strong t-shirts sold as we anticipated their fundraising idea would be extremely well received.”
Chris Dobens commented, “We came up with the phrase ‘Boston Strong’ as a way to show support to our community. We are grateful to be able to contribute and in our own way help the victims of this tragic day.”
Through the use of Facebook, Twitter, Instragram, and other social media tools, the ‘Boston Strong’ campaign from Nick Reynolds, Chris Dobens and Ink to the People hit a viral level that no one anticipated.
As of press time, there have been over 11,000 custom ‘Boston Strong’ t-shirts purchased on the Ink to the People website (InktothePeople.com) and there are no signs of this fundraiser slowing down.
Chris and Nick have created a great way to raise needed money for The One Fund Boston with their ‘Boston Strong’ t-shirt and give everyone a chance to help these victims and show their pride in Boston at the same time.
“We are thankful for people all over the US that have responded to our simple idea to help raise money for those affected by the tragic events in Boston,” said Emerson College student Nick Reynolds.
“Ink to the People is honored to be able to help raise money for The One Fund Boston through our e-commerce technology and social media tools to do some good,” said Todd Richheimer, principal of Ink to the People. “We love the spirit and creativity of young people such as Nick and Chris to make a positive impact on our communities, especially when we need it most.”
Today on April 19th, the wives and children of the players for the Boston Red Sox will be wearing their ‘Boston Strong’ t-shirts at Fenway Park for today’s game in a show of unity and support of the victims of this tragic event.
