In celebration of Earth Day, La Prima Food Group announces the expansion of its green catering options this month. Beginning on Earth Day, April 22, La Prima will switch from providing complimentary disposable service to more eco-friendly, compostable plates, cups and napkins for all of its corporate, special events and school lunch catering.
“This free upgrade continues La Prima’s efforts as an industry leader in promoting sustainable catering services, and emphasizes the importance of composting in our day-to-day lives,” said La Prima President Dave Evans.
La Prima and its special events division, Catering by Seasons, offer green services for all catered events, including farm to table menus with organic, locally grown food. The company recently formed a partnership with Groundworks Farm in Pittsville, Maryland, and now offers its customers shares of the farm’s organic seasonal produce and pasture-raised meats and eggs.
The company also harvests organic produce and herbs from its own large urban garden, and converted three of its main kitchens to 100% renewable wind energy in the last year.
La Prima Food Group recently earned the prestigious Three Star Certification from the Green Restaurant Association, and is ranked by GRA as the greenest caterer in the DC metro region.
