In hopes of igniting others in the community to give, The Carlson Law Firm and Davis Law Firm have pledged $10,000 in an effort to aid those victims of the West tragedy.
“In times of tragedy, it’s vital that our communities come together and we help one another. We’re hoping that by stepping up and donating this money, that we can spark a chain reaction of giving and generosity from our colleagues and neighbors,” Carlson Law Firm Managing Partner Craig Carlson said.
Thousands of donations and an outpouring of support erupted across the local region, state and nation with people lining up to offer clothing, food, water and blood donations.
“We were so touched by the level of giving that people around Texas and across the nation have offered to the West community. There were many officials that expressed the need for financial donations and we knew that was something we wanted to do and we wanted to challenge our community to do,” said Carlson.
The Carlson Law Firm and Davis Law Firm, both with office locations in Waco, Texas, are hoping their pledges will ignite other businesses and community members to help.
“No amount of money will erase this tragedy and the horrific loss the community of West has experienced,” Davis Law Firm Managing Partner, Jeff Davis said. “But we hope that we can come together as business owners and neighbors and show West that we’re here to support them and help them rise from this tragic event.”
The devastation of the blast at the West fertilizer plant has not been fully realized as search and rescue crews continue to shift through the rubble, looking for those who may have been injured or killed in the explosion. At least 12 bodies have been recovered according to recent numbers released by the Texas Task Force Teams. Hundreds of people residing within a five block area of the explosion site have been displaced, according to Texas Department of Public Safety officials.
The two firms have set up a Crowdrise donation site at http://www.crowdrise.com/west for those interested in giving. For more information call 800-359-5690.
