Supreme to provide demilitarization, dismantling and disposals for ISAF equipment

“Supreme’s solution provides a scalable capability that can grow and evolve to meet the tempo and requirements of ISAF forces during the next 18 months, when redeployment and retrograde activities gain momentum,” said Jeff Mason

(April 22, 2013): Supreme Group, a global leader in the provision of end-to-end supply chain solutions in challenging environments around the world, has recently been awarded the NSPA’s (NATO Support Agency) Redeployment Contract to provide demilitarization, dismantling and disposal (D3) services for ISAF equipment in Afghanistan.

The Contract provides a framework for all ISAF nations to dispose of any surplus equipment, or that which is not cost-effective to return to their home countries. The equipment will be demilitarized to remove any military capability, dismantled and then recycled or disposed of in accordance with global environmental and safety standards. The range of material can include tanks, helicopters, planes, trucks, armored vehicles, concertina wire, accommodation stores, clothing, tents, kitchen equipment, and more.

To execute the project, Supreme will work with Sherzai Construction & Supply Company, an Afghan scrap and transportation company; as well as Ramco UK Ltd, a UK-based international disposal agent.

“Supreme’s solution, in concert with our partners, provides a scalable capability that can grow and evolve to meet the tempo and requirements of ISAF forces during the next 18 months, when redeployment and retrograde activities gain momentum,” said Jeff Mason, Supreme’s Commercial Director for Europe and Commonwealth. “Our D3 capability provides a means of disposing of the mountain of ISAF equipment properly and safely. Supreme will work closely with ISAF nations to identify the best possible disposal route for the equipment being processed; whether that is selling, scrapping, recycling, or gifting to the local population,” he added.

Supreme has recently established a dedicated retrograde unit to manage the reverse logistics operation during the military draw-down in Afghanistan. Supreme’s retrograde capability leverages the company’s proven expertise in operating alongside the ISAF military and offering integrated support solutions in challenging locations. The unit offers end-to-end retrograde services – from cleaning, demilitarizing, dismantling, disposing, packing and storing – through to transportation and delivery. Supreme has the capability to retrograde any material or equipment out of Afghanistan – to virtually anywhere in the world.

Supreme Group has operated in Afghanistan for more than 10 years in support of many of the world’s leading organizations, governments and diplomatic missions. For more information, visit http://www.supreme-group.net.
