Three distinguished female leaders have been chosen by the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches for the 2013 Women In Leadership Awards. They include Anne Gannon, of Delray Beach, Jane Kreusler-Walsh, of North Palm Beach, and Michele Poole, of Wellington.

Each of the local women will be in the spotlight May 2 at the much-anticipated annual event, which will take place at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach. Lilly Ledbetter, known for equal-rights advocacy and activism, will serve as the keynote speaker.

The Women In Leadership Awards honors candidates in the private, public and volunteer sectors and recognizes their achievements in each area. In the private sector are Kreusler-Walsh and her law firm, Kreusler-Walsh, Compiani & Vargas, which has specialized in civil litigation in the area for more than three decades. The Seminole Landing resident oversees an all-female firm and, last year, won an award from the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches for her efforts to mentor women.

In the public sector is Gannon, the first female Palm Beach County tax collector. She is an active volunteer with such organizations as Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies and two human-trafficking task forces.

In the volunteer sector is Poole, who worked with former Secretary of Labor Elizabeth Dole to set better standards for women in the workplace. As the grandmother of a girl with Shaken Baby Syndrome, Poole tirelessly has advocated on behalf of shaken babies and has attended schools, day-care centers and other venues to educate the public about traumatic brain injuries and the debilitating ailments that come from shaking an infant.

Waterfront Properties and Club Communities congratulates each of the impressive standouts for their accomplishments, as well as for their contributions to making Palm Beach County’s quality of life the best it can be. The 20-year-old company also thanks the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches for promoting the Women in Leadership Awards and creating incentives for personal and professional excellence.
