Houston County, Georgia (PRWEB) April 22, 2013
“We encourage all of Houston County to join us in helping HoCo Habitat deliver affordable housing,” said Dave Cyr, Parrish Construction Group president, “Be a golf tournament sponsor and make your investment in affordable housing in our community.”
Sponsorship opportunities range from $100 to $5,000. Lunch will be served beginning at 11:00 and a 1 pm shotgun start will kick off the tournament, a traditional 4-player scramble with A and B flights. Morning tee times are also available. Information and on-line registration are available at http://www.hocohabitat.org or call 478-328-3388 to obtain a registration form.
“Partnering with Parrish Construction is a terrific opportunity for HoCo Habitat.” said Tom Prior, HoCo Habitat executive director. “Dave Cyr and Parrish Construction have a powerful reputation for giving back to our community. We are honored they consider us worthy of their support.”
Over the last 21 years HoCo Habitat has built 46 homes in Houston County. Using donations, they purchase materials and volunteers help a carefully selected family build their home. Each family must contribute 400 to 500 hours of sweat equity. Habitat sells the home to the Partner Family for the cost to build and finances it with a no-interest mortgage. Monthly mortgage payments are about $325. The repayments go into the HoCo Habitat Fund for Humanity to help build more homes in Houston County.
“Our Habitat homeowners regularly tell us how much owning their home has changed their lives,” observed Tom Prior. “One family told me their electric bill went down by $200 per month.” He went on to quote how Habitat families describe their experience with terms like “stability,” “security,” “kids doing better in school,” “I now have an emergency fund,” and “optimistic about the future!” He closed by inviting sponsors, “Become a sponsor and help us continue making a difference one family at a time.”
“Just as we have done for nearly 22 years,” pledged Raymond Haggard, former President and long time board member, “with your help, we’ll keep working until no child in Houston County sleeps on a cold floor, no family has to choose between food and rent, and all our neighbors have a safe and affordable place to call home.”
