Zamansky & Associates LLC is investigating Thomas Hampton of Hampton Capital Markets. On April 19, 2013, Thomas Hampton entered a guilty plea to a single count of securities fraud before U.S. Magistrate Judge James C. Francis IV in New York federal court. The case is United States of America v. Thomas Hampton, United States District court, Southern District of New York, 12-CR-03290.

According to the Press Release issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on April 19, 2013, from September 2010 through September 2011, Hampton was the managing director of Hampton Capital, an Arizona limited liability company that had more than $4 million in assets under management. The FBI Press Release states that Hampton Capital engaged in the business of buying and selling exchange traded funds (ETFs), and Hampton Capital purported to utilize specially designed computer software to trade ETFs based on pricing inefficiencies.

Zamansky & Associates LLC has launched an investigation on behalf of investors who are victims of trading schemes which involve buying and selling exchange traded funds. “Exchange traded funds are similar to mutual funds and should be bought and held, not traded excessively or for the purpose of timing markets,” Zamansky states. If any investor observes trading by his or her brokerage firm of ETFs which appears to be very active or excessive, he or she should seek experienced or professional review, Zamansky believes.
