4th and 10 Kicking and Punting hosted a National Camp Series (NCS) Divisional Camp for kickers, punters and snappers in San Antonio, TX, on April 21, 2013, according to Camp Director Nick Gatto.
Gatto, who was born with only one arm, created 4th and 10 Kicking and Punting after a great collegiate career and after playing for nine years in the Arena Football League (AFL).
“I wanted to give back to the Houston and San Antonio area,” says Gatto. “Under our guidance, kickers, punters, holders, and snappers are taught the basic techniques needed to be successful. We teach that to be the best, you must be consistent and set yourself apart from your competition.”
Gatto adds that great football technique is not the only tool needed to achieve success.
“We believe that faith, values, family dedication, goal setting and mental preparation are all important elements in being successful,” says Gatto. “When you join the 4th and 10 family, you will also be joining the Gatto family. We treat each student as if they are a part of our family attending football games, pep rallies, and other student functions in show of support.”
Kicking coach Michael Husted, who created the National Camp Series (NCS) after kicking in the NFL for 9 years, says this is going to be a great season for NCS and its Associates.
"2012 shaped up to be the best year yet for the National Camp Series kicking camps,” says Husted. “We have introduced our Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System and are positioned extremely well to leverage analytics to showcase our athletes, and provide objective high school kicking specialists’ statistics, to college and university coaches.”
Husted says by adding Championship Camps to the NCS schedule in 2013, the NCS program will only get stronger.
“I am very eager to have our first, of several Championship Camps, in Atlanta on April 27th,” says kicking coach Husted. “This full day camp is a nice addition to our National Camp Series which includes our Divisional Evaluation Events and our annual Super Camp. This event will include our proprietary Kicking Index Evaluation (KIX), professional instruction by NFL players and it will conclude with competition in field goals, kickoffs, punts and long snapping.”
Coaching at the Atlanta NCS Championship Camp with Husted will be retired NFL punter Craig Hentrich, former NFL kicker/punter Marc Nolan and snapping coach Brett White.
Husted says that by utilizing its Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, NCS provides an objective evaluation platform for student-athletes who want to showcase their capabilities to colleges and universities for recruiting purposes.
By sorting through over six years of historical event data, the KIX system determines a kicker’s rankings by cross-referencing player data to determine how the athletes stack up against others, both presently and historically.
"The NCS levels the playing field for those who don't want to get caught up in all of the 'politics' that occurs in the kicking industry,” says Husted. “If you can kick, punt or snap, the NCS KIX system will let a young kicking specialist’s skills speak for themselves. No excuses. No explanations."
Husted adds the NCS is not just about player rankings, but quality coaching as well.
“NCS Associates are some of the best kicking coaches in the country,” says Husted. “NCS coaches provide the highest quality instruction to high school kicking specialists around the country.”
Husted says he is very happy to have a coach like Nick Gatto as part of the NCS team.
“Nick Gatto is an excellent kicking coach,” says Husted. “I’m looking forward to working with him on all his 2013 NCS events.”
