ARPC, a business advisory consulting firm offering economic, financial, statistical, business analytics and operational expertise to clients facing legal and business challenges, has announced today that the Company has been invited to present an economist’s perspective on statistical sampling at the Maryland Association of CPAs Government & Not for Profit Conference. The conference will be taking place this week on the campus of the University of Maryland.
Dr. Ilan Guedj, ARPC director and noted authority on economic and statistical modeling, will deliver a presentation on statistical sampling as a member of a conference panel. Dr. Guedj will offer the audience an economist’s point of view on statistical sampling, which will include an introduction of sampling, a discussion of sampling for financial statements, and a review of three case studies where statistical sampling was used. The case studies will focus on examples of statistical sampling methods used in asbestos claims audits, the Gulf Coast Oil Spill claims audits and bankruptcy forecasting.
“Statistical sampling is an integral part of every economic analysis,” Dr. Guedj explained. “In my presentation, I hope to shed some light on how economist’s use statistical sampling in estimating damages, bankruptcy forecasting as well as in claims audits using examples from some very large well known cases that we’ve handled.”
“We appreciate the opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise as economists in statistical sampling to the conference and members of the Maryland Association of CPAs,” John Brophy, ARPC partner. “ARPC is highly skilled in creating complex sampling methods which have been applied in some of the largest and most notable bankruptcy cases over the past several decades.”
