Peer to Peer Working Group to Help In-House Legal Department Leaders Optimize Operational Improvement and Achieve Business Alignment

The Institute for Law Department Excellence (ILDE™) today announced its official formation as a learning and networking organization dedicated to supporting and equipping in-house legal department leaders in pursuit of their goals of operational improvement and business-alignment. The Institute’s mission is dedicated to peer-to-peer learning and networking, development and distribution of best practices for legal department operational improvement and individualized solution discovery. By providing exposure to wide-ranging expertise and a forum for interaction, ILDE empowers law department leadership to make better decisions and drive better results.

“ILDE is an exciting and timely development in the area of legal department operations,” said Jeff Paquin, ILDE Advisory Board Member, former Divisional Vice President, Legal Operations & Chief Operations Counsel, Abbott Laboratories. “As the field of legal department operations becomes more defined, formalized and structured, ILDE will play a much-needed role in enabling legal department and other industry professionals to network and share knowledge.”

Members will receive free registration to live events and be able to participate in quarterly virtual workshops, which are small-group based, highly interactive calls with the Institute’s members. In addition, membership includes:

  •     Peer-to-peer networking and collaborative discussions

In addition to the Institute’s president, Bill Young, ILDE's Advisory Board members include: Kevin Blodgett, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Rockwater Energy Solutions, Inc. and former General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Administration, Dynegy Inc.; and Jeff Paquin, former Divisional Vice President, Legal Operations & Chief Operations Counsel, Abbott Laboratories, Adjunct Law Professor, Pepperdine University School of Law and Co-Executive Director, Chief Litigation Counsel Association.

ILDE Faculty includes: Lisa Girmscheid, Legal Department Administrator; Scott Rosenberg, Senior Manager, Legal Operations, Kraft Foods Group, Inc.; Rees Morrison, author of General Counsel Metrics Survey, largest global benchmark study and Law Department Management Blog; and Pratik Patel, Vice President, Legal Business Solutions, Elevate Services.
