Leading provider of data centre solutions and server room builds, Datacentre UK has provided much needed upgrades in the form of numerous APC PX Symmetra Solutions in the various data centres around The University of Salford’s campus.

The company completed £5.7m worth of data centre upgrades across the university campus in a bid to improve student access to shared applications, storage, and virtual learning environments. In order to repay such a large investment, The University of Salford is hoping to lease IT resources to other academic institutions via shared cloud-based services.

Thanks to Datacentre UK’s impressive data centre upgrade system, the 20,000 students and 2,500 campus-based staff at The University of Salford will also be able to access the new and improved facilities at the MediaCityUk development over at Salford Quays.

The Symmetra PX system from Datacentre UK is designed to provide companies with easy and efficient technology usage, as well as having the ability to integrate seamlessly into today’s state-of-the-art data centre designs. What is more, the Symmetra PX also features self-diagnostic capabilities and standardised modules which help to reduce the risk of human error and give the user and company an overall increased data centre reliability, something that is necessary for institutions such as Universities whose data centres are accessed by many thousands of people every day.

Paul Almond, Director, said: “Here at Datacentre UK, we feel very privileged to be chosen for this massive data centre upgrade job at The University of Salford. It is our mission to provide companies with design, build and support services for data centres and server rooms and now thanks to the work we’ve completed at The University of Salford, everyone at the institution will be using the same software and the university now has a second data centre for disaster recovery purposes, giving them a much increased reliability.”
