We congratulate Katie Scharf for completing her first Spartan Race and sharing her experience with us. We hope to see her at future events as well!
Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) April 30, 2013
On April 30, a story on the Spartan Race blog recaps Katie Scharf’s experience at the Reebok Spartan Sprint in Georgia, her first Spartan Race.
A mother of three boys, Katie Scharf loves the outdoors and competition. When she and her husband decided to sign up for the Spartan Sprint in Georgia, Scharf recounts, “My husband and I decided we would attack this course head on and compete like a Spartan. We have been married for over 10 years and love some friendly competition, but this day proved to be very different than we expected. This race is not about how you are doing compared to others… this race is about how YOU are doing physically and mentally.”
Scharf had completed a couple of mud runs prior to the Spartan Race, but she had a completely different experience at the Spartan Sprint in Georgia. Scharf points to the obstacles as one of the differentiating factors. “Some were pretty easy, some took concentration, some took strength and a few were just TOUGH! I have run several different mud runs, and the Spartan Race is different. They add consequences to not completing an obstacle on the first try.”
Scharf plans to participate in more Spartan Races in the future.
“Why Spartan?” she says. “You will know at the finish line!”
Joe De Sena, Spartan Race founder and CEO, applauds Scharf’s achievement. “We congratulate Katie Scharf for completing her first Spartan Race and sharing her experience with us. We hope to see her at future events as well!”
