Godden | Sudik Architects, an award-winning Colorado based residential architectural firm, has brought on renowned architect and remodeling specialist, Doug Walter.
“We are thrilled to have such an experienced and accomplished architect join our growing firm,” said Gary Godden, one of Godden | Sudik’s principal owners. “Doug Walter is a remodeling industry expert, and his experience in high end remodel, repair and alteration projects is unequaled,” adds Godden.
Doug Walter Architects, a firm Doug owned and managed for over 34 years, earned over 115 awards for work on older structures, for planning and designing cost-effective additions that fit a home’s unique style, for unique custom home design, for innovative commercial work, and for charity work.
When asked about his history, Mr. Walter offered, “My firm designed and oversaw projects for up to 20 separate clients each year. Many of these jobs were in covenant-controlled or landmark districts where my experience was tested.” Walter added, “I have a long track record and interest in sustainable building, and have won an award from the Governor’s Office of Energy Conservation, received coverage on the PBS show, House for All Seasons about energy retrofits. I am credentialed as both a LEED AP and a NAHB Certified Remodeling Professional.” Doug Walter is also well connected to the historic preservation community, and is a frequent presenter of educational seminars on working in Landmark neighborhoods, designing additions that fit, lighting and daylighting, and universal design, to trade and consumer audiences.
Walter has also received two awards from The National Trust for Historic Preservation for “sympathetic additions” and won the “Best Sympathetic Addition” award from Historic Denver in 2005, 2006 and 2007. “I’m excited and invigorated to bring my unique experience to this energetic team of skilled professionals at Godden | Sudik Architects. I’m confident that, together, we can accomplish magnificent things for our professional and residential clients,” Walter adds.
Walter is an active volunteer for the Home Builders Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Jewish Family Service and Easter Seals as well as working on the HBA Remodelers Council. He also donates time to the National Association of Home Builders’ University of Housing Task Force, developing curriculum for an advanced “Certified Aging in Place” course.
