Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 25, 2013
Social media is increasingly playing a role in the dental and health industry, according to a study performed by Los Angeles cosmetic dentist Dr. Jamie Sands. A study from her office shows that social media channels, including platforms such as Yelp and Facebook, have become leading sources of referrals to her business.
“Once I began utilizing platforms such as Yelp and Facebook and started connecting with patients, I saw an increase in referrals to their peers. Particularly with the dental and health industry, where referrals play a large role in new business, social platforms such as Yelp can play an important part in a company’s marketing strategy,” says Dr. Jamie Sands.
In addition to an increase in clients, through her social media efforts Dr. Jamie Sands’ practice has attracted celebrity, international and executive clients. An example of this is Explorer TV, the world’s leading hotel television network for travelers, which found out about Dr. Jamie Sands’ practice through her Facebook Page and recommended her to hotel guests through its network.
“At Explorer TV, we often receive inquiries from hotel guests from around the world asking for recommendations, including for medical practitioners. We are pleased to have found Dr. Jamie Sands through social media. Because of her level of service and the positive feedback from travelers, we awarded her the Best In Class Service Provider for 2013,” says Explorer TV Co-CEO Darren Mann.
Dr. Jamie Sands began utilizing social media 2 years ago, and says it took her time to get used to the platform. At first, she did not know if she would see an ROI from her efforts. She also had no idea that her social media efforts would lead her to new endorsement deals and book deal inquiries, which she received earlier this year.
“In the beginning, I think many people questioned whether these social platforms were viable marketing channels. However, particular as sites such as Facebook and Yelp have evolved, more and more businesses are realizing that these are important websites for companies to have a presence on,” says Dr. Jamie Sands.
Although Dr. Jamie Sands has had considerable success with social media platforms, other businesses in the dental industry have yet to pursue similar strategies. According to Jim Du Molin, editor of TheWealthDentist.com, "Half of the dentists on Facebook are not maximizing their pages when it comes to marketing their practice.”
As more dental and health practices see the impact of social platforms such as Yelp, Facebook, and Twitter, Dr. Jamie Sands predicts these companies will increase their investments into these platforms.
