Several community associations managed by The Continental Group (TCG), a FirstService Residential Management company, received numerous awards at the 2013 Florida Communities of Excellence Awards, held on Friday, April 5 at the St. Petersburg Bayfront Hilton Hotel in St. Petersburg, Florida.

As a Diamond Level sponsor of the program, TCG joined other sponsoring businesses that dedicate themselves to meeting the needs of residents who live in condominium and homeowners associations. The Florida Communities of Excellence Awards is the only independent recognition program for community associations in the state.

This program serves to laud communities statewide for various outstanding achievements that benefit residents, enhance property values and contribute to the quality of life in their respective associations. Top communities were recognized in 11 different categories and winners were chosen from both smaller communities (fewer than 400 units) as well as larger ones.

The 2013 “Managers of Excellence” included TCG Community Association Managers Patricia Ivette Quintero of L’Hermitage I Condominium Association in Fort Lauderdale and Julie Sanchez of MetroWest Master Association in Orlando. These managers were among four individuals who were inducted during the ceremony and distinguished themselves as some of the state’s most outstanding community association managers.

The Beach Club Three in Hallandale won in the category for “Energy & Water Conservation (Non-Landscaping)” for its energy and water and conversion programs. Solaire at the Plaza in Orlando won for small communities in the “Communications & Community” category and Ponte Vecchio in Boynton Beach won for large communities. L’Hermitage I in Fort Lauderdale won in both categories of “Disaster Preparedness” and “Florida Property of the Year.” MetroWest Master Association in Orlando won in the category of “Safety & Security Initiatives” and Downtown Dadeland Master Association in Miami won in “The Comeback Kid” category. This award recognizes communities whose boards and managers have developed and implemented successful turnaround programs to revitalize distressed properties.

“The Continental Group is dedicated to bringing its communities the industry’s top professionals and finest resources available, and the numerous awards our communities and professional staff have won exemplify our commitment,” said Tim O’Keefe, TCG’s CEO. “We are proud of the numerous TCG communities and professional staff who received recognition in the different categories of the Communities of Excellence Awards.”
