London, UK (PRWEB UK) 26 April 2013
Fingers are crossed at a Chester-based finance group after staff heard this month that their firm had been shortlisted for a prestigious national business award.
The Funding Corporation has beaten off lending institutions from across the UK to make the last stages of the Credit Today Awards, recognised as the "Oscars" of the finance industry.
Now the company's near-200 staff must wait until 09 May when the overall winners will be announced at a glittering celebrity-hosted awards ceremony at London's Grosvenor House.
It is the third year in succession that The Funding Corporation has been shortlisted in the contest, joining other major UK finance finalists such as Barclays, Lloyds TSB and Virgin.
Award judges nominated the company for the 2013 "alternative lender" of the year category, and also for the "responsible lender" of the year category which it won outright two years ago.
Bosses and staff hope that Chester will soon be home to both awards for the coming twelve months.
The Funding Corporation, based on Chester Business Park, reached the finals after submitting its lending policies for scrutiny by a panel of independent judges from the finance sector.
They took an in-depth look at how well the company is safeguarding consumers' interests, and the professionalism of staff in providing customers with help and support.
Managing Director David Challinor said that being shortlisted meant that The Funding Corporation was able to stand its ground against some of Britain's best-known financial institutions:
"The categories for which we have been selected are not about a company's size, but about the approach it takes to looking after customers and treating them fairly," said Mr Challinor.
"This has always been an area to which we have been deeply committed, and which we constantly monitor through surveys and by publishing unedited customer comments on our website.
"But ultimately, the job of putting our policies into practice is in the hands of our staff, and it is their dedication which has taken us into the final furlong of these awards," added Mr Challinor.
The Funding Corporation, based in Chester for over ten years, specialises in providing motor finance for the growing number of people with impaired credit records.
