Irving, TX (PRWEB) April 24, 2013
Shoebacca.com, a leading online retailer focused on “active lifestyle” footwear, is proud to help residents of West, Texas in their time of need, after a massive explosion April 17 at the West Fertilizer Company, damaged 150 buildings, including three of West's four schools, killed 14 people and injured more than 160 others.
To lend a hand to its neighbors, Shoebacca traveled with possibly the world's largest shoe – 20’ long by 11’ high, dubbed The Big Shoe - to donate shoes and clothing, and bring smiles to residents impacted by the recent explosion in West, Texas.
On Wednesday April 17, when Shoebacca heard about the tragic explosion in West, Texas, Team Shoebacca, Shoebacca.com’s bicycle team – preparing to travel to Houston to participate in the BP MS-150, a ride that weekend to raise funds to help eradicate multiple sclerosis -- immediately contacted the American Red Cross to determine how they could help. Shoebacca.com employees filled a trailer with thousands of new shoes, shirts, socks and warm-up suits and drove to the West Fairgrounds and Community Center to fit residents with shoes, and work alongside volunteers passing out food and supplies. To help get donations to families in need, Team Shoebacca members also interviewed with several local news stations.
Marc Schlachter, co-founder of Shoebacca.com, stated at the West Fairgrounds and Community Center, “Shoebacca wishes the best for all the families affected by this tragedy. Our hearts are with you.”
