For four days in May, New Yorkers are invited to visit the captivating world of some of Manhattan's best artists. Now in its 17th year, the Tribeca Open Artist Studio Tour (TOAST) is an open invitation to the public to take a free, self-guided tour through artists' studios in TriBeCa.

This year the Tribeca Open Artist Studio Tour will kick off its annual T.O.A.S.T. “Art Walk” with a special group gallery exhibit. The exhibit is called “Think INSIDE the Box.” It opens to the public on May 2nd, 2013 and runs through May 12th, 2013. The gallery space is located at 58 Lispenard Street in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan. Hours are 1 pm to 6 pm, daily. There is no charge for admission.

“Think INSIDE the Box” is the T.O.A.S.T. community’s way of introducing all our established and emerging artists to the public in one space. And space is the central theme for this collection. Every artist has been given the exact same four-foot by four-foot box in which to work. No more. No less. The boxes are predictable. But what’s inside them is not.

And while every box is its own universe of imagination and surprise, make no mistake, there is something on these walls for the public too. The art is for sale, and all pieces are priced below one-thousand dollars. Everyone who attends is encouraged to let their opinion be heard by voting for their favorite presentations in a number of categories.

But “Think INSIDE the Box” is just your first stop. Grab a coffee and take a stroll down the sidewalk, because the mother lode of paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry and much more awaits along the “Art Walk.”

Now in its 17th year, the T.O.A.S.T “Art Walk” is an annual rite of spring that allows Tribeca artists to open their studios to the public for a comfortable and casual tour. This year, 61 artists will be exhibiting their latest work in 25 studio locations throughout the neighborhood. Maps showing studio locations can be picked up at the Lispenard Street gallery or at Pearl Paint art supply store on Canal Street. Studio viewing hours are: May 3rd, 6 - 9 pm; May 4th through May 6th, 1 - 6 pm.

The T.O.A.S.T. Art Walk is a popular tradition in Tribeca, and it is sure to excite the mind and senses of the art-curious to the art connoisseur alike. We look forward to seeing all of you this year at the “Think INSIDE the Box” show as well as at the studio stops along the “Art Walk.” For more information, visit us at
