A.K. RIKKS Brings Hot Fashion to Grand Rapids with Help of Popular Retail Point of Sale, Teamwork Retail

A.K. RIKKS, Grand Rapids retail giant, just reported an increase in sales of 40% after expanding to their new 28,000 space and launching Teamwork Retail (http://www.teamworkretail.com) as their point of sale system, a success amongst the retail industry.

In September of 2012 A.K. RIKKS opened the doors of their new 28,000sq foot location, housing both men’s and women’s attire and accessories. The massive expansion project that takes them to the level of the average department store was a bold move, necessary to transform what manager, Jim Murray, refers to as Grand Rapids “culture of travel”. Locals are accustomed to traveling to Chicago or even New York due to the lack of a strong shopping scene in Grand Rapids; no Lord and Taylor, one Macy’s and no Nordstrom.

For their point of sale retail technology, manager Jim Murray says, “I wanted to have customizable options, we are very customer centric. It’s not about sell-through but at the end of the day it is about the customers. Everything must be tracked and considered, including a record of who gets a thank you card.” Jim wanted many features not found in an out-of-the-box system, “I would think up some crazy things [features] and Teamwork could play ball.”

While still a single-store “boutique,” A.K. RIKKS celebrates a very New York feel – massive windows, sleek iPad™ point of sale, culture, and most obviously, important fashion brands.
