Blood pumping in ears and running down her fingers. Faceless men chasing her through the streets, and always the beat beat beat of drums in her ears. This is what woke songwriter Kat Downs of Sit Kitty Sit one night in 2010.
The song "My Beloved" was born; written note for note from the ghoulish nightmare. Released in 2012 on Sit Kitty Sit's second album entitled "Beautiful/Terrible", its hypnotic drum and bass line paired with darkly sexual lyrics has made "My Beloved" one of the bands top downloads.
Sit Kitty Sit teamed up with Abara Ijiomah of Focal Glow Media, and Jake Haslem, Lobsang Thinley, and Leah Colecchia of 8 Fold Films in 2012 to take the next step. The crew shot the entire music video gorilla-style over two days in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood:
- racing cars through streets in the middle of the night
- sweet talking the port authority
- taking over a local bar.
The starving-artist production included more than 20 extras, a fight choreographer, special effects makeup artist, and claimed the life of one piano and one drum set. The finished product is an exact replica of Downs' original nightmare.
The "My Beloved" music video will be released on Tuesday April 30, 2013, and can be seen at http://www.sitkittysit.com and http://www.youtube.com/sitkittysit
Sit Kitty Sit will also offer a free download of the song "My Beloved" on both their official website as well as on their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/sitkittysit.
