International insurer HTH has recently merged with Blue Cross Blue Shield and launched a new product that Pacific Prime clients can now benefit from.

Clients will undoubtedly benefit from this partnering of two very promising companies.

Pacific Prime is pleased to be able to offer its clients a new product from HTH after the insurer has recently merged with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) to launch their latest product, the GeoBlue plan.

Replacing HTH’s Global Citizen plan, it is hoped that the GeoBlue product will improve customer experience in the USA as clients will now have access to BCBS’s vast US hospital network. Furthermore, due to BCBS’s long standing reputation, it is expected that this merge will allow for improved recognition of the HTH brand.

HTH policies have not garnered significant amounts of global recognition in the past, most likely due to the fact that their international plans were marketed under the HTH label, which is still considered relatively new to both local and international markets. Despite previously using well established international insurer, Aetna, as their PPO (preferred provider organisation), HTH policies still did not receive the expected amount of attention.

BCBS is made up of over 38 companies and has been a strong name in the US market since the 1920s. Today, over 100 million people in America receive coverage thanks to BCBS and numerous government programmes, such as Medicare and Medicaid, are serviced by the company.

Undergoing a complete re-branding is always an uncertain time for any insurer, but with such a reputable association behind it, HTH can now compete against other international insurers and develop a completive edge in the market.

David Hayes, sales director at Pacific Prime, commented on the merger: “The HTH plans were great value and were generally received well in the market, though now offering the same policies under the Blue Cross Blue Shield Banner will definitely increase their international sales potential. We have a history of clients from the US requesting cover from Blue Cross Blue Shield anyway, and we are excited to be able to respond positively to this request”

Pacific Prime clients paired with HTH should note that their insurer is rare among other private medical insurers in that they directly cater for the US market and can cover US nationals outside of the USA, as well as non US nationals legally residing in America. Furthermore, not many insurers provide plans that completely comply with the somewhat strict US laws and legislations regarding individual medical insurance, but HTH makes this one of their priorities.

The merger is definitely seen as a positive move by Pacific Prime analysts and clients will undoubtedly benefit from this partnering of two very promising companies.
