ZeroTurnaround, the company that’s improving the way the world develops, tests and runs software, announced today that Java Champion, Geert Bevin, has joined the company as a Senior Engineer and part of the LiveRebel team. Geert brings more than two decades of experience with custom application development, having had a strong focus on web applications, open source, Java and rich internet technologies. He will be responsible for contributing to the LiveRebel team as an engineer including coding, generating content for Rebel Labs and serving as a company spokesperson.

“Geert has a strong track record as an industry visionary, as evidenced by his Java Champion designation,” says Jevgeni Kabanov, Founder and CEO of ZeroTurnaround. “We met a few years ago as fellow speakers at industry events, where he often spoke about his experience with Java bytecode manipulation, continuations, scalability and his Web framework known as RIFE. We are excited to have him among our ‘brain trust.’”

Geert developed RIFE to build real-world, large-scale solutions with an emphasis on smaller development teams that could react quickly to customer demand by creating workable solutions. In the process, he became interested in pushing Java closer to the hacker mindset by reducing steps, while maintaining a large variety of solutions. His breadth of experience across many levels of software development allows Geert to wear different hats when approaching ZeroTurnaround projects.

“I have always been impressed by what ZeroTurnaround does to help developers be more productive –
alleviating their pain points,” says Geert. “I look forward to being part of the team as we continue to strengthen ZeroTurnaround position in the market, and create new technology in the time ahead.”

“Having Geert on the team adds a level of expertise and breadth of knowledge that we depend on for generating useful research and content for Rebel Labs,” says Oliver White, Head of Rebel Labs at ZeroTurnaround. “Our mission is to generate industry-relevant, technical deep dives so that our readers can be more educated and challenged. With Geert, we'll be able to do that even better than before.”
