“Our top five reasons for choosing ASCENT are time, time, time, time and time." - Frank Maurio, Technical Supervisor, Andor Labs
Indianapolis (PRWEB) April 25, 2013
Indigo Biosystems (Indigo), a provider of scientific software for analytical laboratories, is pleased to announce that Andor Labs LLC (Andor), a Durham, NC-based independent clinical toxicology laboratory, has chosen to implement the ASCENT chromatographic quantitation and expert peak-picking software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution in its laboratory, beginning with a 47-analyte panel of opiates, opioids, amphetamines and illicit drugs.
The test procedure, providing quantitative measurements of drugs and associated metabolites to physicians prescribing pain medication in the Southeastern US, previously required Andor scientists to spend 4-8 hours thoroughly reviewing data from all of the analytes. By processing LC-MS/MS data using ASCENT’s built-in quality rules and patented peak-picking algorithms, Andor expects to simplify the thought processes needed for accurate analysis, as well as significantly reduce data analysis time to one hour or less per batch of data.
“Our top five reasons for choosing ASCENT are time, time, time, time and time,” said Frank Maurio, technical supervisor for Andor. “Part of Andor’s mission is to use the state-of-the-art technologies to provide highly reliable and accurate test results. Until now, this level of quality required a considerable amount of skill, aptitude and time on the part of the analysts and reviewers. Indigo’s software will simplify data analysis by eliminating the repetitive work, requiring human intervention only to verify results or refute unusual results.” Maurio expects the time savings to come from faster sample turnaround time, decreased analyst training time, as well as reduced work caused by human error—allowing his team increased freedom to expand and improve.
“With ASCENT, Andor’s highly skilled personnel can apply their skills more appropriately to other areas of clinical laboratory service and quality,” stated Kimberly Napoli Eaton, laboratory director for Andor.
“We are honored to have Andor join the Indigo family of clients,” said Raul Zavaleta, CEO of Indigo. “It is incredibly exciting to us to see progressive labs like Andor recognizing the value in our solution and capitalizing on that value to pursue better science.”
