We felt it was important to recognize the outstanding efforts of local wound care clinicians and those organizations supporting wound care throughout Colorado.
Malvern, PA (PRWEB) April 25, 2013
HMP Communications Holdings, LLC (HMP), a leader in healthcare communications and education, today announced the launch of a regional wound care appreciation campaign to coincide with the upcoming Symposium on Advanced Wound Care Spring/Wound Healing Society (SAWC Spring/WHS) conference in Denver, CO from May 1-5, 2013. The campaign will support healing efforts of local wounded warrior athletes and acknowledge the outstanding work of Denver-area wound clinics.
The SAWC Spring/WHS meeting is the premier interdisciplinary wound care program within the clinical field and the largest annual gathering of wound care professionals in the United States. This is the first time in the show’s history that SAWC Spring/WHS is located in Denver. To show support for the conference, Colorado Governor John W. Hickenlooper proclaimed May 2013 as Chronic Wound Care Awareness Month. HMP developed the appreciation campaign to reciprocate the regional support of the conference and celebrate the new relationship with Denver.
“We felt it was important to recognize the outstanding efforts of local wound care clinicians and those organizations supporting wound care throughout Colorado,” said Peter Norris, an Executive Vice President with HMP Communications. “Denver has been a gracious host city and it is only fitting for us to give back.”
A key element to the campaign is to provide product support for wound care efforts related to local veteran athletes. HMP, in conjunction with the Wound Healing Society Foundation, collaborated with SAWC Spring/WHS exhibitors to secure approximately $100,000 worth of donated wound care products. These items will be provided to the team leaders of wounded warrior athletes within the Air Force, Special Operations, Marine Corps, Army and Navy/Coast Guard, all of whom are competing in Colorado Springs in mid-May. Donations were provided by Amerx Health Care, BSN Medical, Covalon, HARTMANN USA, Inc., Hollister Wound Care, Hy-Tape International, Milliken Healthcare Products, Sage Products, Smith & Nephew, Southwest Technologies, SteadMed Medical, and 3M Healthcare. Freeman, the official decorator of SAWC Spring/WHS, provided organizational support.
USO representatives will be on-site at the SAWC Spring/WHS show to receive the donations and provide photo opportunities from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
The second element of the campaign is to recognize Denver’s flagship wound care clinic, Presbyterian/St. Lukes Denver Wound Healing Center. With benchmark healing rates of 90-95% and a reputation for taking difficult cases, the Denver Wound Healing Center will use SAWC Spring/WHS as a valuable staff-training tool. As a sign of appreciation, HMP will extend to their attendees a number of exclusive perks, including complimentary copies of the clinical source book, Chronic Wound Care 5 Vol. 1, and free access to additional SAWC On-Demand education. Additionally, the Denver Wound Healing Center will serve as the centerpiece for an upcoming “Facility in Focus” feature in the HMP journal, Today’s Wound Clinic.
“There is no better (conference) than SAWC Spring/WHS to get the latest evidence-based research, treatments, coding and billing updates all in one place,” said Paula Stanton, the Program Manager at the Denver Wound Healing Center. “This year, we have the good fortune of this amazing show being in our own backyard. The additional focus on our clinic is icing on the cake!”
The editorial team from Today’s Wound Clinic will be on-site at the Denver Wound Healing Center, 1719 E. 19th Avenue, Denver, CO 80218, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, conducting interviews for the feature. Photo opportunities of the clinic and staff will also be available at that time.
