Dance Academy USA, the largest dance studio in northern California, has just announced that auditions for their 2013 Winter Ballet Performance will be held on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19. Applications to participate in the tryouts are available now. Additionally, Dance Academy USA is offering a “Summer Intensive” which will partially focus on learning choreography specific to the 2013 Winter Ballet Performance.
Those auditioning for this year’s Winter Ballet Performance are strongly encouraged to register for Dance Academy USA’s Summer Intensive which will be offered at their Cupertino studios July 22-26. This intensive is designed to give students an opportunity to improve and challenge their skills, gain strength, and focus on developing well rounded dancers by exposure to a wide variety of disciplines in Ballet. This program will include (but is not limited to) Ballet Technique, Pointe (Pre-Pointe), Allegro, Adagio, Contemporary, Variations Floor Barre’ and Pilates. The intensive will also include choreography specific to the 2013 Winter Performance.
When asked about Dance Academy USA’s Summer Intensive, Jane Carter, Artistic Director stated, “It’s an honor to have such recognizable professional dancers such as Julie Ma, Beth Ann Namey and Jeremy Kotvich training young dancers at DAU. No other dance school can match the ballet talent we have on our staff.” The summer intensive and winter ballet performance will be led by Ms. Julie Ma. According to Carter, “Julie is an incredibly skilled professional dancer and we’re lucky to have her lead our summer intensive program.” Julie studied dance at Virginia Commonwealth University and has served on the board of directors at Western Ballet. Additionally she was the Ballet Mistress for two years at a French style ballet school during which time she wrote scene plots and scripts for two full-length ballets in addition to assisting rehearsals and dancing major roles.
Other highly accomplished, award winning, professional dancers, such as Beth Ann Namey and Jeremy Kotvich will be assisting Ms. Julie for the summer intensive. Beth Ann Namey and Jeremy Kotvich are both professional soloists and instructors at DAU. Beth Ann Namey performs with Ballet San Jose and is one of the most noted professional dancers in northern California, appearing in the San Francisco Chronicle, Contra Costa Times, San Jose Mercury News and Ballet-Dance Magazine. Jeremy Kotvich also performs with Ballet San Jose and has toured around the world for dance. He was recently nominated for the Isadora Duncan Dance Award and featured in Pointe Magazine and “American Stars of Ballet”.

Dance Academy USA was founded in 1990 by James R. and Jane R. Carter. The business has since expanded in size, becoming the largest dance studio in Northern California with a staff with over 50 employees. Jane Carter is a graduate of San Jose State University with a degree in Human Performance and Fitness and a minor in Nutrition and Food Science. While at San Jose State University, Jane was a member of Spartan Spectrum Dance Team. While in college she was also selected as the Dole Corporation “Ambassador” which allowed her to teach dance in Japan. Additionally, Jane is a former dancer for the Golden State Warriors and a professional cheerleader for the San Francisco 49ers.
