Moissanite boasts more fire and brilliance than diamond, is harder than ruby or sapphire, and is cheaper than all three.
(PRWEB UK) 29 April 2013
Jewellery making supplier Cookson Gold is launching a new range of Moissanite loose gemstones, the diamond alternatives, early next month.
Moissanite jewellery has more sparkle than diamonds, and is nearly as hard – registering 9.25 on the Mohs scale, compared to a diamond’s perfect 10. The gem is very resistant to scratching, abrasion, chipping and breaking.
Natural Moissanite is very rare, and was originally only found in meteorites. Nowadays, the gem is created in labs using a patented thermal growing process. As a result, man-made Moissanite gemstones, diamond alternatives, are far cheaper than the real diamond equivalent.
Thanks to its price, Moissanite has become a popular substitute for its more famous older sister.
Cookson Gold’s Moissanite range features gems in its popular round, beautiful square and classic cushion cuts. Gem sizes will range from 2.5mm to 6.5mm in width.
Each Moissanite gemstone in Cookson’s range is produced to exact measurements and is hand faceted by skilled gem cutters. Every gem has a lifetime guarantee that it will keep its fire and lustre.
Moissanite will be available from Cookson’s website at the beginning of May.
Cookson Gold e-commerce manager, Adam Hunter, said: “Moissanite boasts more fire and brilliance than diamond, is harder than ruby or sapphire, and is cheaper than all three. When you factor in its consistent high-grade quality, you’ve got a gemstone that ticks all the boxes.
“It’s a great alternative to diamond. Not only does it look fantastic in its own right, but it could fool even the most hardened diamond devotees into thinking it was the real thing.”
Moissanite diamond alternatives are the latest addition to Cookson Gold’s catalogue of more than 17,000 jewellery making products.
As well as gemstones, the jewellery making supplier sells Diamond and Moissanite Testers
(999 AJSA and 997 2702). It also stocks Fimo polymer clay, silver Art Clay, and a huge range of charm beads, jewellery tools and precious metals.
