In April’s Virgin London Marathon, car2cover selected 22 year old Jack James of Lewisham, London for their annual Marathon donation.
Elaine Scott, a spokesman for leading Gap Insurance broker car2cover said, “Jack has devoted a great deal of time and effort to raising much needed funds for his chosen charity 'Children With Cancer UK' and we know Jack has also recently experienced the loss of a very close friend to cancer and he was worthy of our financial support this year.”
The London Marathon was a hugely successful occasion and the terrible events of Boston did nothing to deter a huge turnout of runners and spectators. The marathon raised substantial amounts of money for a variety of charities across the UK thanks to generous public and commercial donators.
Bob Wilson ex Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper and TV presenter is the founder of The Willow Foundation and he said, “Without the support of businesses like car2cover, the Willow Foundation would not be able to help so many young people who are living each day with a life threatening illness.”
For the more serious athletes, the marathon is a personal or professional challenge and fundraising is not a consideration – but for the majority the event poses a huge personal goal combined with a fun way of raising cash for worthy causes.
“Whilst our chosen charity for monthly support is the Willow Foundation, we are happy to occasionally support other causes. It gives us a great deal of satisfaction to donate and we look forward to continuing this activity for the future. Our customers also feel a sense of involvement when they know a proportion of what they spend with us will help those less fortunate than themselves,” enthused Scott.
