I don't have the skills to personally go out there and rebuild homes. But what I can do is provide the proper legal documents to anybody who needs them: free of charge.

With hundreds of people and families displaced and enduring damages, injuries and hardship, the law firm stepped up in the area it knows best: Texas law.

“With insurance claims, documentation and needs regarding the care of family members, we hope that by offering free legal services and advice, that we can help dispel some of the myths and questions that can be so daunting in the aftermath of a disaster like this,” Carlson Law Firm Managing Partner, Craig Carlson said.

Attorneys at The Carlson Law Firm practice from 10 office locations across the state, including a location in Waco, Texas. From their Waco office, attorneys with the firm have been touched by the outpouring of aid sweeping the West, Texas region.

“I am awestruck by the level of selflessness and sense of community that has been shown by the people of West, Central Texas and beyond,” Waco lawyer, Dominic Braus said. “Individuals and businesses have banded together under the harshest of circumstances to help those who need it most.”

While financial donations, household goods, food and water have been pouring into the region, there are still needs present in the region as residents and loved ones move forward.

“There are obvious things people can do to help, but I think we need to do more,” said Braus. “I don’t have the skills to personally go out there and rebuild someone’s home that has been destroyed. But what I can do, and what the attorneys and staff at The Carlson Law Firm will stand with me to help do, is provide the proper legal documents to anybody who needs them; free of charge. If someone has a family member that has been incapacitated, their family will likely need a Power of Attorney (POA) to act on their behalf. The citizens of West can’t move on with their lives and start rebuilding unless everything is in order.”

In addition to free POA’s, attorneys at The Carlson Law Firm are also offering free will evaluations, advice on claim forms and are available to answer general legal questions for all those affected by the West fertilizer plant disaster.

“At The Carlson Law Firm, we’re available when our client’s and neighbors need us. That means you don’t need an appointment. You can just stop by our office during business hours and we’ll be there to talk with you. We also answer our phones 24/7,” Carlson added.
