Newt Global has effectively done the pilot implementation of ‘efmfm- Courier’ in a leading courier and logistics company. Janakiram B V, Director & Delivery Head India, Newt Global had a healthy discussion over the efmfm-Courier capabilities with the client team. Client was very much excited with the product features. They concluded the discussion for a pilot.
The pilot was started with initial rounds of training on each module. Delivery vehicles were being tracked continuously for performance testing and to demonstrate the capabilities of solution for users.
Efmfm- Courier is an innovative and interactive solution by which not only courier companies but also the end-customers can do the real time tracking of the delivery vehicle using their smart phones or mobile devices. The unique proposition of this solution is that it gives end-customers the power to do the real time tracking of the delivery van which is on its way to deliver the parcel to that customer. Additionally end user can reschedule the consignment, if not available to take the delivery, through their mobile device itself.
Efmfm-Courier has two modules- End-user and Delivery van application Module, with a central Admin web console.
Admin Web Console enables administrator to add/modify/delete vendors, vehicles, zones, routes and mobile devices. Administrator can do the real Time tracking of delivery van with actual traffic density on the routes. He can view/download various reports on the movement of the delivery vehicle between any two dates. Automatic alerts are there for route deviations, flat tyre, accident, low battery etc. A special feature “Scheduler” – helps in automatic optimization and assignment of parcels to be placed in the delivery vehicle.
End User Module: The solution calculates the estimated time of arrival of the delivery van from its current location, traffic conditions and intermediate delivery points and provides estimated time arrival of package at end customer’s doorstep. In addition, the solution also empowers end-customer to reschedule the delivery date/ time if customer has changes in their schedule and cannot accept the delivery. The solution will take the customer’s rescheduling input, change the route to be followed by delivery van (skipping the delivery point of that particular customer rescheduling the delivery), and in turn provide the cost saving to courier company by reducing the distance traveled and time saved. This will also help in reducing number of missed deliveries by the courier vans. Since end customer is getting regular updates on the device, the package enquiry calls to courier will be reduced further cutting call center cost.
Delivery van Application Module: The mobile device in the delivery van shows the available parcels for delivery in the van. The module shows the route to the delivery agent to be taken to deliver the parcel. Once the delivery has been done, the same gets updated on the screen of the driver’s device and the route to the next delivery point is displayed. Delivery agent has the option to capture picture or ID of the customer. The application captures the signature of the customer. In case customer reschedules, the application automatically generates new routes which gets updated on delivery Van’s device. Thus, this feature saves travel time and fuel consumption.
Newt Global is coming up with COD module in efmfm-Courier as several of our clients have indicated strong need for the same. COD module will be rolled out by mid of May 2013.
