The majority of mothers still prefer an iPad over flowers, but the popularity of it as a gift has waned
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 30, 2013
TechBargains.com, a leading deal aggregation website for electronic products, released its annual Mother’s Day survey results. The findings revealed nearly three in four or 73% of mothers rather receive an iPad than flowers for their designated holiday. That is an 18% drop from last year when 91% of mothers surveyed said they would prefer to receive an iPad over flowers.
“The majority of mothers still prefer an iPad over flowers, but the popularity of it as a gift has waned” said Yung Trang, president and editor in chief of TechBargains.com. “This decline may be a reflection of market oversaturation, meaning many mothers already own an iPad, or iPad mania wearing off in general.”
The survey also reveals 67% of mothers would rather receive a weekend getaway than a new smartphone. Overall, interest in receiving consumer electronics for Mother’s Day fell from 2012. 13% of mothers surveyed said they are interested in receiving a consumer electronic device for Mother’s Day compared to 31% last year. Of those respondents interested in receiving a tech gadget, 38% want a tablet, 29% want a smartphone, 19% want a laptop, 5% want an e-reader, 5% want a television and 4% want other devices.
Only one in ten (10%) respondents plan to give their mom a consumer electronic for Mother’s Day. According to the survey, only 5% believed their mom is very tech savvy. 34% classify their mother as not tech savvy, 42% said their mom knows how to use basic tech gadgets, and 19% said their mother is comfortable with most technology.
871 people participated in TechBargains.com's survey that was conducted in April. A full list of the survey results and an article about what mom really wants this Mother's Day can be found here. Additionally, more than half (58%) of respondents are very likely to seek a coupon or discount before buying a Mother’s Day present. TechBargains.com has created a Mother’s Day Gift Guide with exclusive deals to save consumers time and money.
