National Latina Business Women Association, Los Angeles Chapter Seeking Nominees for 10th Annual “Honoring Latinas in Business Awards”

Women of Excellence

Event will be recognizing 10 Exceptional Latinas, in honor of the 10th Anniversary of our organization, who have distinguished themselves through outstanding leadership as a corporate professional in their industry, as an entrepreneur, in the non-profit sector, and/or through community outreach and service, including those who have made a positive impact on the community.

WHAT:            The National Latina Business Women Association, Los Angeles Chapter (NLBWA-LA) is currently seeking nominations for deserving Latinas in all industries for their 2013 “Honoring Latinas in Business Awards.” This annual event includes a VIP Reception, silent auction, awards ceremony, celebratory reception with live entertainment and executive level networking with entrepreneurs, corporate, business and community leaders. Criteria for both Business Owner and Corporate Leader

  • Show a commitment to the betterment of the Latino community
  • Must conduct business within Greater Metropolitan LA (LA, San Bernardino and/or

    Ventura Counties) and surrounding communities

  • Does not need to be a member of NLBWA-LA

CRITERIA FOR NOMINATIONS:
Entrepreneurs/ Business Owners must have minimum 3 years in business, at least 51% Latina owned and be actively involved in the day-to-day operations.

Corporate Professionals must be in a managerial position or above, demonstrate exemplary leadership in her professional role and/or Diversity Programs within her company.

Candidate must conduct business or work in Los Angeles and/or the surrounding communities.

Candidate must demonstrate outstanding leadership in the community, mentorship, and serve as an advocate or be involved in diversity to promote Latinos in the community.

Does not need to be a member of NLBWA-LA

WHY:             

Over 6 millions Latinas live and work in California today, representing 17 percent of California’s total population. (State of California, Department of Finance, July 2007). According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Latinas are the fastest growing small business owners in the U.S. with a phenomenal growth rate of 114 percent over the last five years. Latinas have the largest number of business in the U.S. - owning an estimated 747,108 firms and generating revenues of nearly $62 Billion as of 2008, according to the Center for Business Women’s Research. More than one-third (34.9 percent) of all Hispanic businesses are owned by women, with LA leading the way.
