Being a witness of this poor healthcare management, I strive to reach out to everyone that have been or will be affected from this healthcare chain. They need to be aware of the quality of healthcare this facility provides. - Varun Tandon has been launched where people can read and share their experience at Fortis Hospitals.

One can find real experiences at Fortis Hospital Review.

Why is it needed?
Fortis Healthcare is a network of hospitals across 11 countries including Canada, India, Sri Lanka, Singapore and others. The group has 70 hospitals, 180 laboratories, 140 Pharmacies, 61 medical centers (with 550 associated clinics) and 137 dental practices.

At Fortis Hospitals, Doctors routinely (mistakenly) prescribe medicines that a patient is allergic to. Basic process goes something like this:

1.) Doctor prescribes the “harmful medicine”.

2.) Pharmacy dispenses that “harmful medicine”.

3.) Nurses administer that “harmful medicine” to patients.

The allergy related information about the patient lies buried in the medical record pages. Hence, a quick and life-saving solution could’ve been to install whiteboards in patient rooms, a widely method used in US hospitals, to avoid this small but dangerous mistake.

Varun Tandon, a witness of this poor healthcare management shares his story about his mother, Darshana Tandon, who passed away on January 31st, 2013 due to severe allergic reaction from Penicillin from gross negligence by Fortis Healthcare staff at Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, India. Varun has started a website for Fortis Review.

GOAL of Fortis Healthcare Review:

1. Improving the management of all Fortis Hospitals by thorough review and petitioning.

2. Diminishing the suffering and deaths at Fortis Hospitals and medical centers due to communication gaps in patient drugs allergy and diet restriction information.

These goals can only be accomplished by visiting the website and sharing personal experience at Fortis Healthcare. The more reviews and stories this website get, the bigger the change it can make to these hospitals so others don’t suffer or perhaps die from a problem could’ve been easily avoided.

How are people affected?
Fortis Healthcare’s revenue for last financial quarter alone was: US $285 MILLION dollars. Fortis has been expanding and buying out hospital chains. If Fortis is already not in a city nearby, with that kind of cash flow, they may buy out a chain of hospitals in city nearby soon. Fortis healthcare hospitals may already exist near cities of relatives or friends. Medical Tourism to save some money may be one way people from US and other countries end of at Fortis Hospitals.
