Online textbook buyback company, MyBookbuyer, an internet book business based in the San Francisco Bay Area, today announced they are seeking out a local non-profit organization or elementary school to donate 1,000 children’s books. The internet book-buying company is certainly no stranger to supporting worthy causes and in the past have provided donations to Resources Area for Teaching (RAFT), the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and many others. These types of charitable acts, along with their past history of conducting many successful business alliances with non-profit stalwart organizations such as Goodwill Industries and The Salvation Army, continues to embed a desire for them to continue to help promote literacy to those who are less fortunate.

MyBookBuyer has a goal is to reach out to find a locally based charitable cause with this need, and their mission is to help provide financially disadvantaged children with reading resources they may otherwise go without. They hope that this donation may in some way positively affect the future of the children in their community by giving them a more positive outlook. “I learned many great things in the past by working with Goodwill Industries for more than five years and throughout this time, it continues to serve as a constant reminder to maintain a focus on the things which are truly most important,” says MyBookBuyer founder Mr. Michael Der.”

The donation offer is for a wide assortment of 1,000 children’s books with varying reading levels and topical interests. The classification of children’s books contained within this library will range from learning to read beginner Readers and Picture books, primarily for young early readers ages 4 and older, and extending up to Reading Level (RL) 5 chapter books, generally for ages 9 to 12. In between those levels, chapter books with RL1 to RL4 for ages 6-9 will be well represented, with many popular Scholastic series titles, such as Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones, Goosebumps, Animorphs, Harry Potter, Captain Underpants, Amelia Bedelia, Magic School Bus, and many series titles which continue to be read and taught regularly in classrooms throughout our schools.

The books will be quality used items, however some will show signs of previous ownership such as written names, stickers or frayed edges. They will be inspected beforehand to ensure they are good solid reading copies and many will be excellent to like new.

Whether it’s the new technological changes which are constantly competing for their attention, or the financial barriers which restrict financial resources, children these days no longer read books as much as they have in years past. MyBookBuyer believes that children growing up in low-income communities need a constructive outlet which can help them focus on expanding their education and inspire them. The goal is that a donation of 1,000 children’s books to some well-deserving recipients may help accomplish this.
