Dr. Eric. R. Ritchie comes with a history of pediatric and orthopedic specialties, making him the perfect fit at the Children’s Orthopaedic & Spine Center.

The new Children’s Orthopaedic & Spine Center was created with a superhero theme and layout that would put children at ease while visiting the doctor. But it doesn’t stop with the theme and layout. The Orthopaedic & Spine Institute carefully chose its pediatric surgeons to ensure that your children would be comfortable with them and unafraid for future appointments.

Dr. Eric R. Ritchie, M.D., is a fellowship trained Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon. He’s a board certified member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as a member of the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. After a 20-year career in the United States Air Force Medical Service, Dr. Ritchie came aboard at the Children’s Orthopaedic & Spine Center.

The physician earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He then received a military scholarship to attend Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, where he graduated with his medical degree. From there, Dr. Ritchie went on to serve as an Air Force Flight Surgeon, followed by a one-of-a-kind Air Force Orthopaedic Residency at Wildford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. The physician was then hand picked to lead the Air Force’s Pediatric Orthopaedic Department.

Wanting to get the most out of his medical education, Dr. Ritchie relocated to Salt Lake City, where he received specialized training in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and Scoliosis from the University of Utah. Following his fellowship training at the University of Utah, the skilled surgeon returned to San Antonio, TX, where he was offered the job as Chief of Orthopedic Pediatric Surgery at Wilford Hall Medical Center and Consultant to the Surgeon General for Pediatric Scoliosis and Orthopedics.

Dr. Eric R. Ritchie, M.D., is married and has three children. His experience as a father and his vast experience in several different pediatric and orthopedic departments has made him a superior Pediatric and Orthopaedic Surgeon, and also an expert at handling children in a doctor’s office setting. The doctor knows how to relate to children and put them at ease as their medical issues are addressed.

Dr. Ritchie says, "I feel very blessed to have been given the opportunity to take care of children who need my help. I am honored and privileged when a worried mom or dad trusts me with their precious child. Having children of my own, I know how difficult it is to see your child in pain and afraid- and I strive to take care of my patients the way I would take care of my own children."

If your children aren’t excited by the fun atmosphere that the Children’s Orthopaedic & Spine Center has assembled, complete with life-sized superheroes, superhero-themed exam rooms, and a superhero museum, then we have full confidence that Dr. Eric R. Ritchie, M.D., will be just what the doctor ordered to make their visit as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
