‘Habits can be hard to break but with the correct support and willingness to change, quitting smoking can be achieved by using hypnotherapy as an aid to support the desire to quit.

According to The Guardian, New York has taken the first steps towards making the purchasing of cigarettes illegal for citizens under 21 years of age. The bill, backed and introduced by Mayor Michael Bloomberg would mean that the current law which allows anyone over 18 years old to purchase and smoke cigarettes, would mean that anyone under 21 would not be able to purchase cigarettes anywhere in the state of New York.
City council speaker Christine Quinn said, ‘By delaying our city’s children and young adults access to lethal tobacco products, we’re decreasing the likelihood they ever start smoking, and thus, creating a healthier city.’
Whilst we are aware that stopping smoking is beneficial worldwide and figures show that 99% of all first use of tobacco occurs by age 26 meaning that if youth and young adults manage to avoid smoking or other tobacco products, very few will begin smoking after that age. For those that do, it is also worth noting the various methods that are available to aid quitting such as nicotine replacement therapy as well as complementary methods like hypnotherapy. Quitting smoking with hypnotherapy helps to strengthen the desire and willpower to give up as a representative from the National Council of Hypnotherapy explained, ‘Habits can be hard to break but with the correct support and willingness to change, quitting smoking can be achieved by using hypnotherapy as an aid to support the desire to quit.’
