“Not only will this butterfly garden help bring a splash of color and beauty to our grounds but it will also add an important ecological contribution to our natural surroundings,” explains Alison.

Award-winning destination spa resort, The Lodge at Woodloch is expanding its garden program yet again. This time, the focus is not herbs to accent the decadent dishes in TREE Restaurant, nor is it produce to prime the Cooking Demonstrations by the chef team. The newest garden by Master Gardener Alison Peck is a Butterfly Garden located just 25 feet from the back doors of the secluded Poconos resort. Alison has hand-selected flowers and plants that attract butterflies to lay their eggs and complete the lifecycle.

Flowers such as Butterfly Bush, Snap Dragons, Zinnias and Milkweed will naturally draw in these delicate creatures as a beautiful refuge. Butterflies often help in the pollination of important indigenous plants and also help keep harmful insects at bay.

“Not only will this butterfly garden help bring a splash of color and beauty to our grounds but it will also add an important ecological contribution to our natural surroundings,” explains Alison. “Butterflies also have a stress-relieving quality that will help transport our guests to true relaxation in a unique way.”

The Butterfly Garden has already been growing seasonal plants such as Peonies and will continue to blossom as the Spring and Summer bring warmer weather. Late summer and early fall usually bring a flourish of butterflies throughout the property and this will add to the possibilities. The new Butterfly Garden is located at the start of the nature trail leading to the private lake on property.
