New Campus Director Kirk Engel brings 15 years of diverse higher education management experience to SAE Institute San Francisco.

The classroom and studio experience that our students gain will help to make them employment-ready when they graduate and connect with our worldwide network of industry-leading alumni, who are always on the lookout for talented new hires.

The San Francisco campus of SAE Institute, recently recognized as the best audio recording and engineering school in America by Vibe Magazine, has chosen higher education professional Kirk Engel to be its new Campus Director. Engel will oversee all aspects of the operations, management, and enrollment for SAE Institute’s San Francisco campus.

“SAE is well-positioned to leverage its national and international presence as a global leader in creative media education,” says Engel. “With more college students concerned about taking on too much student loan debt, SAE makes a refreshingly compact program available at an affordable price.”

Engel began working in higher education administration in 1996 as the Director of Education for the Denver Institute of Technology in Denver, CO. He was promoted to Executive Director of the school’s first startup branch campus, which was renamed Westwood College. Later, he served as Corporate Director of Student Finance for the Westwood College group, which had grown to 17 campuses in six states. He subsequently joined Ex’pression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, CA where he worked for nearly eight years, most recently as the CFO.

Engel earned a Masters' degree in Education Administration and a Masters in Business Administration from Stanford. His Bachelor degree is from Cornell University in New York.

“Our San Francisco campus is the perfect place for aspiring audio engineers and electronic music producers in the Bay Area to gain essential classroom and studio experience,” says Engel. "This knowledge will help to make them employment-ready once they graduate as they connect with our worldwide network of industry-leading alumni, who are always on the lookout for talented new hires.”

SAE Institute San Francisco offers an accredited diploma program in Audio Technology for full-time students and an accredited certificate in Electronic Music Production for part-time students. Financial aid is available to students who qualify and the G.I. Bill is accepted.
