The system conversion will enable EWEB to benefit of the newest product development and applications that are continuously developed by Survalent on a Windows Server platform.
MISSISSAUGA, ON (PRWEB) May 03, 2013
Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of smart grid solutions for the control room, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Eugene Water and Electric Board, Oregon.
The Eugene Water & Electric Board, founded in 1911, is Oregon's largest customer-owned utility and provides electricity and water to more than 86,000 homes, business, schools and other customers in Eugene, Oregon. As a public utility, EWEB does not operate to earn a profit or to serve the investment needs of stockholders. Instead, EWEB is chartered by the city of Eugene to serve the interests of its citizens. The citizens of Eugene, therefore, are owners of the utility.
The new system features Survalent’s highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server. It includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: WorldView, SCADA Explorer, Command Sequence, Event Data Recording, SCADA Add-In, Remote Alarm Annunciation, Database Transcription, External Alarm, and Virtual RTU.
“We welcome the EWEB initiative to convert their existing SCADA system from a VMS platform to a modern Windows Server operating system,” states Mike Roth, Vice President of Sales for the Central United States. “The system conversion will enable EWEB to benefit of the newest product development and applications that are continuously developed by Survalent on a Windows Server platform. The new system is using new applications and features that had not been available on the previous platform.”
