Learning math fractions with food is a lot of fun.

Play math fractions games at lunch and other learning fractions with food to finish the school year strong in math.

Before asking the question what to have for lunch today, consider planning a fun interactive math lunch. The simple lunch game can be played with the kid's favorite sandwich. How about a Banana splits sandwich and apples for dessert?

Prepare several sandwiches and cut them into a variety of fractions. Make simple fraction note cards. Together with the child, sort the various sandwich pieces from smallest to greatest. Mix up the fraction cards and randomly draw a card. Put that sandwich piece that matches the card on a plate and count the number of pieces it would take to complete the sandwich. Eat and enjoy while playing the game!

For dessert serve a cut up apple. Continue the game with the fraction cards by choosing the appropriate apple slice.

Other fun lunch ideas are lunches on a stick using skewers, tanagram sandwich ideas, roll sandwiches, mix and match sandwich ideas, banana burritos, and many more.
