Partnership with Boys and Girls Country Provides Clothing, Household Goods to Kids in Need.

Houston-based A Better Tripp Moving & Storage delivers unwanted household items from clients’ homes to Boys and Girls Country of Houston. The program, which was launched earlier this month, is a win-win for both clients with clutter and kids in need.

After almost 20 years of moving experience, David Tripp has seen customers rid their homes of pile upon pile of clutter – but none of them are quite sure how to get rid of all the unwanted items pulled from their closets, attics, and garages. Some have garage sales, others load up their cars and make multiple trips to thrift stores, and some simply throw their old stuff away.

“One thing is certain – people like to get rid of stuff when they move,” says Tripp, the owner of Houston-based A Better Tripp Moving & Storage. “I started to think, ‘Hey, what if people could give their unwanted items directly to someone who needs them, instead of messing around with garage sales and all that other stuff?’ So I decided to get A Better Tripp involved in the process.”

This month, A Better Tripp Moving & Storage is rolling out a new donation program that makes it easier than ever for clients to donate unwanted items, such as furniture, clothing, and appliances. Now, customers can leave their unwanted items with their movers.

“It’s super-easy. You put a label on everything you want to donate, and we take care of the rest,” says Tripp. “We’ll haul your items off to charity, and we’ll even write you a receipt so you can write your donation off on your taxes.”

Houston-area clients will be happy to know that their gently used items will go to local children: A Better Tripp’s donation program benefits Boys and Girls Country, a Christian children’s home that provides a full-time residence to Houston-area kids in need. Boys and Girls Country, which has the capacity to house 88 children and young adults, runs entirely on support from individuals, businesses, civic groups, and churches. “We wanted to choose a charity with a proven track record of helping the Houston community,” says Tripp. “Boys and Girls Country has provided loving care for area children for over 40 years, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help them.”

The new partnership is just the latest way that A Better Tripp gives back to the community: Every December, the company teams up with area churches to participate in Operation Christmas Child, a charity event that delivers toys and clothing to kids in need.
