Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) May 01, 2013
The Dallas Cowboys decided to not make a pick for a quarterback in this year’s NFL draft. The team was eyeing USC’s quarterback Matt Barkley and Syracuse’s Ryan Nissib, but ultimately did not make a move to draft either one. Instead, rivals Philadelphia picked up Barkley and the Giants grabbed Nissib. Current Dallas quarterback Tony Romo had just signed a 6-year contract extension, worth $108 million. The Cowboys also hold one of the league's top back up quarterbacks, Kyle Orton. Coach Jason Garret went on to explain that those quarterbacks are good players, but it needs to fit with the team right. He said they would have been of good value, but not for Dallas when they were picking. The Cowboys did however pick up three more undrafted free agents, who have agreed to terms with the team. Those three added to the list give the Cowboys a total of 15 undrafted free agents, none of whom are offensive or defensive linemen. This year the Cowboys picked up a pair of Clemson players, kicker Spencer Benton and cornerback Xavier Brewer, as well as West Alabama linebacker Deon Lacey.
