Wick Phillips, a full-service business law firm with offices in Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin, Texas, announces that Michael L. Baum has joined the Dallas office as a partner in the employment and commercial litigation groups. With nearly 15 years of experience, Baum represents parties in employment related matters in both state and federal court based on: wrongful termination and discrimination in the workplace (age, race, gender, pregnancy, national origin, religion and disability); claims of unpaid overtime under the Fair Labor Standards Act; and cases involving alleged violations of the Family Medical Leave Act. He also has extensive jury trial experience and has successfully arbitrated numerous employment-related cases.
Frequently, Baum handles disputes arising out of non-competition agreements and employment contracts. He also counsels corporations on employment policies; employee discipline; employment investigations; and strategic employment decisions. In addition, he handles complex business litigation, including claims of breach of contract, tortious interference, theft of trade secrets, partnership disputes, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and business disparagement.
“At the rate that our firm is growing, we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to bring another top litigator on board,” said Bryan Wick, founding partner of Wick Phillips. “Michael has successfully tried and arbitrated numerous employment-related cases and is seen as an expert in the employment and commercial litigation community. His trial experience coupled with his commercial and employment expertise makes him a key figure on the Wick Phillips team and allows us to continue to provide a wide range of exemplary services to our clients.”

He is a member of the Dallas Bar Association, Labor & Employment Law Section and the State Bar of Texas, Labor & Employment Law Section.
