The Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA), a membership organization that promotes the development, advancement and unity of the wireless Internet service provider industry, extends its congratulations as President Obama nominates Tom Wheeler to become the Country’s next FCC Chairman. In addition, WISPA applauds and welcomes Mignon Clyburn, the acting Chair who is the first female to step into this post.
“We are pleased that President Obama nominated Tom Wheeler as he has years of experience in all segments of the telecommunications industry,” said Elizabeth Bowles, President of WISPA. “Mr. Wheeler has a lot of challenges ahead of him but we are optimistic that his background in telecom startups and his leadership skills will enable him effectively to tackle the important regulatory issues that will face our nation in the years to come.”
“WISPA looks forward to working with Mr. Wheeler and his administration as we seek additional spectrum to meet rising consumer demand, especially in rural areas where WISPs offer the most cost-effective service,” said Matt Larsen, WISPA’s FCC Committee Chair. “Mr. Wheeler is very well respected and we think that he will be instrumental in shaping the telecommunications industry in positive and lasting ways.”
