Woodard & Curran to Operate Monmouth, IL Public Works Department

Engineering and operations firm Woodard & Curran takes over full Department of Public Works operations for the City of Monmouth, IL. The firm has retained DPW staff and assumed responsibility for water and wastewater systems, street and public grounds maintenance, and other services.

The City of Monmouth, IL has entered into a partnership with Woodard & Curran where the firm will take on all operations of the city’s Department of Public Works (DPW). Under the 10 year agreement, Woodard & Curran is responsible for management of engineering services and right-of-way authority, the city’s water treatment and distribution system operations, water meter reading and billing, wastewater treatment and collection system operations, street maintenance, downtown beautification, and landscaping and maintenance of public grounds. The firm took over responsibility from the previous DPW management on May 1, 2013 and is retaining current staff.

The partnership will focus on improving the quality of services and bringing additional value to the City. The public-private model allows the city to focus on its core services while finding partners to take on responsibility for specialized areas of operations.
