The discipline, perseverance, and hard work put forth in the military are traits that would also serve them well in the real estate industry ... we are always interested in adding disciplined and commitment oriented individuals to our team.

Portland-based Prudential Northwest Properties welcomes the first broker to join the company through their unique Veterans to Brokers Career Program. The company developed the job program to help military personnel establish themselves in meaningful real estate careers upon returning to civilian life.

Lynn Perey, a West Point Military Academy graduate and experienced real estate broker, is the first candidate to take advantage of the financial benefits the program offers. Prior to moving to Oregon in 2003, Perey was a Principal Broker in Montana. He learned about Prudential's Vet program through a neighbor and decided this was a good time to get back into the real estate business.

The Veterans to Brokers Career Program, the first of its kind in Oregon, reimburses the major start-up costs new real estate brokers incur, including licensing class expenses, exam fees and standard first year association dues, which can add up to $2,300 or more.

“We appreciate all the sacrifices our military personnel make in service to our country and we want to do what we can to help them in return," says Jason Waugh, President and CEO of Prudential Northwest Properties. "One challenge veterans often face when returning home from duty is establishing a rewarding post-military career. The discipline, perseverance, and hard work they put forth in the military are traits that would also serve them well in the real estate industry. Since our company is always interested in adding disciplined and commitment oriented individuals to our team, the Veterans to Brokers Career Program is a win for us and a win for the veterans it serves. Lynn is a wonderful addition to the West Portland office and I’m very pleased to see him benefit from our program.”
