ILSA CEO Meets with Puerto Rico Insurance Regulators

ILSA CEO revisits Puerto Rico and makes headway with (PR) insurance regulators. She makes great stride in building relationships with existing staff and streamlining the non-resident Puerto Rico licensing process for the company.

Arleen Taveras, Chief Executive Officer, and Ted Taveras, Chief Operating Officer of Insurance Licensing Services of America, Inc. (ILSA), visited San Juan, Puerto Rico in March of this year. Their objective was to meet and collaborate with various regulators to substantially improve the licensing process for ILSA clients seeking to conduct business in Puerto Rico. For over a decade, ILSA has successfully obtained Puerto Rico licenses for agencies and insurance professionals across North America, however, as the market continues to demonstrate a growing interest in conducting insurance affairs in this U.S. territory, so does the need to improve efficiency at the Secretary of State and the Insurance Department on the island.

Over the course of several days, Arleen visited with key personnel at the PR Department of Insurance, Secretary of State and Department of Revenue offices, physically collecting forms not available on-line, and gaining invaluable insight to the administrative processes behind each of the various required filings. In doing so, she was able to share this information with service teams so that future filings could be processed more efficiently.

In addition to addressing some of the administrative roadblocks the ILSA service teams faced, Ted and Arleen spent time establishing relationships with courier companies that could assist with the pick-up and delivery of applications and forms submitted by ILSA

Finally, the trip provided them with an opportunity to renew their relationships with existing Department personnel as well as foster new ones with incoming staff.
