Maine firm sees strong demand for help with Google Maps Rankings, Local Citations and Reviews Management.

My Local Leads, a Kennebunk, Maine firm providing affordable WordPress Websites, Local Search Engine Optimization (Local SEO) and Lead Generation services to contractors across the USA today announced plans to launch a separate business and website which will focus entirely on Google Places Optimization. With the evolution of Google Plus, Google Places is now known as Google Plus Local, although most commonly referred to by its old name.

Chris Moreno, President of My Local Leads, says that strong demand for business directory listings known as “citations” along with more and more businesses seeking only help with the “maps” (Google + Local, Yahoo Local and Bing Local) influenced his decision to spin off a subsidiary of My Local Leads.

Citations are important because it has been demonstrated that having a local business listed properly in lots of these different directories can have a positive effect on that business’s rank in the local listings and maps when people search locally.

These local maps rankings can quite often be the difference between a local service business thriving or starving.

For example, when a consumer looking for a plumber in Sarasota, Florida types the words “plumbers in Sarasota” into the Google search box, the results show only 7 plumbers listed on the first page (labeled A-G), along with those plumbers’ addresses, phone numbers and a pinpoint showing their location on the map. Reviews for those 7 plumbing contractors are also displayed.

Meanwhile in a city the size of Sarasota, it is safe to say there are dozens of plumbers, perhaps even over 100.

Yet it is these lucky 7 who have been shown to get the majority of phone calls, with those in the A, B and C positions getting the most. With these sorts of results, it is no wonder local businesses are seeking Google Maps help for their business.

Statistics show that over 80 percent of consumers now search this way (online) when looking for local service companies like roofers, plumbers, painters, electricians, dentists etc.

Businesses are learning that getting into the top positions on these “local map results” can mean a huge increase in business- especially if they have an excellent online reputation in the form of testimonials and reviews.

Factors that influence a business’s local rank include:

1)    Location within the city (center is best)
2)    Website Optimization (local links from other websites in town)
3)    Number of Reviews
4)    Years in business
5)    Proper Local Listing filled out correctly
6)    Number of Citations

The new business will be known as My Local Citations and will offer monthly relevant citation listings starting at just $75.00 per month for 50 listings.

According to Moreno, “More and more business owners come to My Local Leads already having great websites. They just want to improve their Google Places rank and they don’t want to spend a lot of money. My Local Citations will help them accomplish that.”

My Local Citations is shooting for a June 1st launch date.
