Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) May 06, 2013

For 45 years, Charlotte Magazine has been required reading for those who want to stay abreast of the people, places, events and activities that define the Queen City. Since 1997, its May issue has been dedicated to the annual "Best of the Best" (BOB) awards, recognizing the who’s who among local business and service providers, as determined by their editors and consumers. According to their 2013 poll, Charlotteans declared, with voices stentorian, that the YMCA of Greater Charlotte is the best of the best - times three. Thousands of consumers cast their ballot online for this year’s contest, giving the Y top spot in three different categories including best local camp, best swim lessons and best fitness club.

Serving Charlotte for over 138 years, the YMCA of Greater Charlotte is a nonprofit committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y is a leading provider in camp, swimming and fitness programs.

This is the third consecutive year that the Y received the BOB award for Best Summer Camp. The Y was also voted Best Health Club in 2012. “Endorsement from the people we serve is the highest honor we can achieve,” says Laura Ferguson, Director of Program Development. “At the Y, we are proud to provide award-winning programs to support the Charlotte community.”

As a charitable organization, the Y provides financial assistance and community outreach programs to fulfill its mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. In 2012, the Y provided assistance to more than 81,000 people locally.

BOB award winners will be recognized at Charlotte Magazine’s red carpet celebration on May 23, hosted by 107.9 The Link radio personalities Kelly McKay and Ramona Holloway.
