MustSee Takes Out Technology Costs for Art and Travel Mobile Guide Creators

NYC tech startup Areté Media launched the MustSee mobile guide service for individuals and organizations, including museums, art galleries, cultural institutions, tour guides, and travel companies. Creators can use the website to make interactive, multi-media guides for the iOS MustSee application to share or sell on the mobile app to users who can also plan and journal their travels with their own guides or download others.

The new MustSee mobile guide service from Areté Media enables organizations and individuals to tell their location-based stories about anything from art and architecture to history, science and travel with their own custom content without worrying about technology costs.

Areté Media has launched the MustSee mobile guide platform to meet the growing popularity of smartphone applications and the need for organizations and individuals to use the technology for location-based guides. At no cost, organizations and individuals can use the service to create guides, which they distribute to users with or without charging a fee. Fee-based downloads generate revenue from the guide creator's own content. The MustSee community and distribution platform allows users to connect and share inside information about 30 million places all over the world.

Many travelers arrive at their destination before they plan their activities. The MustSee app makes it possible for users to plan ahead by setting different locations. They may decide what to see and do once they have arrived using the GPS technology which provides search capabilities of the places around them and can be filtered by categories and distance. They also can find and download other guides, whether created by individuals or organizations, for a fee or free.

The new service allows guide creators to start generating revenue for their high quality, unique content. Using the creator website, they may add photos, text and optional audio files, web and video links and set their own price for guides, which Areté Media submits to Apple for in-app purchases. The guide creator, Apple and Areté Media divide the generated revenue. Creators and app users of guides market their creations using links, email, Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare social media outlets.

While the mobile app provides for the production of content, it also enables users to search for the types of places and activities that are of interest to them. App users can create their own guides of any of the places and created sights, simplifying their travel and trip planning. They are able to engage with the content and other users through adding ratings, photos and comments. All user-created content can be downloaded to their device, helping save data charges and eliminate on-site connection issues.
